James Lee Brown, age 87, of Morganton, passed away Friday, July 23, 2021, at Kennestone Hospital. Mr. Brown was born May 5, 1934, in McCaysville, GA, to the late Ernest Lee Brown and the late Pearl Ann Ballew Brown. He was a member of Jerusalem Baptist Church and had retired from Sears after many years of service. James enjoyed fishing, gardening, cooking, restoring cars, spending time on the lake, and being with his dogs, Bo, Luke, and Rosco. In his younger years, he and his wife, Carol, enjoyed traveling in their motor home. But with all the places they visited, he was proud to call this area his home. And he especially loved spending time with his family and friends. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Alice Brown, brothers Ernest Benjamin Brown and Eugene Brown.
Survivors include his wife, Carolyn Woody Brown, son, David (Leila) Brown, daughter, Lisa (Bruce) Tucker, sister, Betty Odom, brothers, Max Brown and Eddie Brown, grandchildren, Elisabeth Rasch and Meredith Brown, great-grandchildren, Emmett Rasch and Eleanor Rasch.
Funeral services: Monday, July 26, 2021, at 2:00 pm at the Henry-Cochran Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jeff Brown officiating. Interment will follow in the Brawley Cemetery. Pallbearers: Jeff Roper, Bruce Tucker, David Brown, Johnny Cain, Brandon Quintrell, and Dan Brown. Honorary escort: Harriett Barns and Sheree Cain.
