Mr. James Jasper Hunter, age 77, of Warner Robins, Georgia, passed away Monday, October 7, 2013.
James was born in Blairsville in 1936, the last of nine children. He joined the Air Force when he was 18 and retired after 26 years of service to his country. During his years in the military, he had lived in Tucson, Arizona and San Antonio, Texas. For the past 30 years, James had lived in Warner Robins. He was a member of Choestoe Baptist Church.
James was preceded in death by his parents, Hayes and Lydia Hunter; siblings: Howard Hunter, Hazel Collins, Irene Shuler, Mary Lou Walker and his beloved son, James Michael Hunter.
James will be lovingly remembered and missed by his surviving family members: sisters, Lucille Johnson, of Oak Ridge, Tennessee; Blanche Swain and Doris Souther, of Blairsville, Georgia; brother, Franklin Hunter of Blairsville; step-son, Kris Kimmy of Erie, Pennsylvania; dear friend Mary Clements, and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for James were held on Thursday, October 10, 2013, at 2:00 p.m., in the Chapel of Cochran Funeral Home of Blairsville, with Rev. Ken Zollinger officiating. Special music for the service was presented by Bill Collins and Buddy Hunter, and Martha Collins. The following gentlemen served as pallbearers: Ken Walker, Mike Johnson, Barry Collins, Benny Collins, Eric England, and Chris Souther. Burial was in Choestoe Baptist Church Cemetery, with Military Honors presented by U.S. Air Force Honor Guard. Visitation was held at the funeral home for one hour before the service began.
