James Hubert Wood

James "Butch" Hubert Wood, age 72 of Morganton, passed away January 18, 2013 at The Copper Basin Medical Center. James was born December 18, 1940 in Athens, GA, to the late Nelson Wood and the late Blondell Wier Wood. He was preceded in death by sister, Shirley Wood, sister, Ellen Wood, father, Nelson Wood, and mother, Blondell Wier Wood. James loved the outdoors, he enjoyed traveling and watching sports.

Survivors include: wife, Anna Hunt Wood, daughter, Kay (Chuck) Thomas, son, Jimmy (Kim) Wood, daughter, Sherrie (Josh) Sappington, sister, Sarah Jane Predmore, brother, Gene (Marilyn) Wood, brother, Robert (Patsy) Wood, step-mother, Judy Wood, brother-in-law, Max (Betty) Hunt, brother-in-law, Berry Broach, grandchildren, Michelle Thomas, Brian Thomas, Justin Wood, Ann Marie Sappington, and Luke Sappington. Also numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held Monday, January 21, 2013 at the Henry-Cochran Funeral Home with the Rev. Buddy Pittman officiating. Music provided by Marilyn Thomas, Jr. Dillinger and Gerald Heaton. Interment followed in the Mt. Carmel Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers were: Brian Thomas, Justin Wood, Justin Wood, Bruce Dockery, Vernon Weeks, Rusty Maddox, Josh Sappington. Honorary pallbearers were Kenneth Turner, Buck Williams, Ronnie Ellis and Harry Dawson.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Mt. Carmel Cemetery Fund at 112 Grady Hunt Rd. Morganton, Ga 30560.
