James Edward Lindley, age 86 of Blue Ridge, passed away Monday, November 20, 2017 at Fannin Regional Hospital. Mr. Lindley was born April 15, 1931 in Greenville, SC to the late Broadus Lindley and the late Lucille Armstrong Lindley. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Roy, Troy and Bobby Lindley and one grandson, Ronnie Lynn Porter, Jr. Mr. Lindley served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War then later he worked for Lockheed. After working for Lockheed he then moved on to owning and operating Lindley Dry Cleaning in Atlanta with his wife Rowanda. In their spare time, Rowanda and Edward enjoyed traveling and spending time with Rowanda's sister and brother-in-law, Frances and Ferrell Earley.
Survivors include loving wife of 45 years, Rowanda Anderson Lindley, step-son, Ronnie Lynn Porter, Sr., one sister, Thelma Canada of Honea Path, SC, one sister-in-law, Hilda Lindley of Belton, SC, one granddaughter, Tracey Lynn Porter, and four great-granddaughters, Carlie and Ellie Wolfer and Alyssa and Mia Porter.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, November 25, 2017 at 2:00 pm at the Henry-Cochran Funeral Home with Pastor Asa Dockery officiating. Interment will follow in the Georgia National Cemetery in Canton on Monday, November 27, 2017 at 1:00 pm.
The family will receive friends at the Henry-Cochran Funeral Home Saturday, November 25, 2017 from 12:00 pm - 2:00 pm.
