James E. Chance

Cochran Funeral Home of Murphy announces funeral services for Mr. James Edgar Chance, age 62 of Warne, NC passed away Sunday, November 12, 2017 at Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville, Georgia.

Mr. Chance was a native of Hayesville, NC and had lived there for most of his life. He will be remembered as a wonderful father to his children. In spare time, Mr. Chance loved fishing and camping. He had been preceded in death by a daughter, Jammie Michelle Chance, and his father, Johnny "Ebb" Chance.

Surviving family members left to cherish his memory are: his mother, Betty Chance, of Brasstown, NC; daughter and son-in-law, Sherry and Tony Neal, of Flowery Branch, GA; son and daughter-in-law, James Dewayne and Nellie Chance, of Winder, GA; and son and daughter-in-law, James Everett and Carrie Chance, of Panama City, FL; brother, Julius Chance, of Leola, AR; 12 grandchildren and many other relatives and friends also survive.

Funeral services have been scheduled for Wednesday, November 15, 2017, at 2:00 p.m., to be held in the Chapel of Cochran Funeral Home of Murphy with the Rev. Bill Dyer and Rev. David Womble officiating. The following gentlemen have been selected to serve as pallbearers: Jimmy Teems, Adrian Teems, James Everett Chance, Avery Chance, Sean Neal, and Jesse Neal. Burial will be in Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery on Beech Cove Road. The family will meet with friends at the funeral home on Tuesday evening, November 14, 2017, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.
