James Donald Donald ""Don"" Rogers

Cochran Funeral Home of Blairsville announces funeral services for Mr. James Donald Rogers, age 76, of Blairsville, who passed away Saturday, October 29, 2011 in Union General Hospital in Blairsville. Mr. Rogers was a native of Blairsville and had lived in Blairsville for most of his life. He was born Thursday, June 6, 1936, a son of the late Frank Randall Rogers and Lois Roberta Seabolt Rogers. Don served in the U.S. Navy and for 22 years he was a self-employed insurance agent and operated Rogers Insurance Agency in Blairsville. As a member of First United Methodist Church of Union County, Don drove their church bus for many years. He was a member of Union County Lion's Club; a former member of the Blairsville Kiwanis Club; the Union County Quarterback Club; and The Blairsville Jaycees. Don was always very active in the Blairsville community. Don and his brother Tommy operated The Western Auto and Rogers Furniture Store. He had been preceded in death by his wife, Annette M. Rogers; a sister, Betty Collins; and three brothers: Charles Rogers, Bill Rogers, and Bobby Rogers.

Don will be greatly missed by all who knew him, but especially his loving family: son and daughter-in-law, Robby and Judy Rogers, of Marietta, Georgia; daughter and son-in-law, Rena Rogers and Steve Duvall, of Kennesaw, Georgia; daughter, Jill McDaniel, of Blairsville; and daughter and son-in-law, Stacy Rogers Fisher and Laurence Fisher, of Blairsville. Sister, Louise Lance, of Morganton, Georgia; and three brothers: Ray Rogers and Tommy Rogers, both of Blairsville, and Clark Rogers, of Benton, Tennessee; four grandchildren: Amber Rogers, Hanna Rogers, Dustin McDaniel, and Susanna Rogers. Many other relatives and many friends also survive.

Funeral services have been scheduled for Monday, October 31, 2011, at 2:00 p.m., at First United Methodist Church of Union County, with Rev. Ben Lewis officiating. The body will lie instate at the church starting at 1:30 p.m.; special music will be presented by Mrs. Elizabeth Plott and Miss Ava Hunter. The following gentlemen have been selected to serve as pallbearers: Terry Rogers, Tommy Rogers, Jr., Robert Rogers, Gary Lance, Larry Lance, and Milton Bradley. Military honors will be presented by North Georgia Honor Guard and The National Guard, Military Funeral Honors Unit. Burial will be in Union Memory Gardens Cemetery. Visitation at the funeral home will begin on Sunday evening, after 5 p.m.; with the family meeting with friends from 5 until 8 p.m.
