Mr. James Cecil Tatman, 82, of Blairsville, Georgia, passed away Sunday, September 11, 2011, in Union County Nursing Home in Blairsville. Mr. Tatman was a member of Sharp Memorial United Methodist Church in Young Harris. He had a love for music and played the piano, organ and baritone horn. He had formerly been a member of the Wilmington City Marching Band. He taught the Agape Sunday School Class at Sharp Memorial. He served as Youth Choir Director and Methodist Youth Fellowship Counselor at various congregations in the Atlanta area. Mr. Tatman was also a member of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows and the Sons of Union Veterans and was proud of his service as a Civil Defense Policeman during World War II. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ira and Zillah Tatman, brother, Ira Addicks Tatman, Jr. and sisters, Elizabeth Tatman and Jane Bornsheuer.
Mr. Tatman is survived by his family: his loving wife of 55 years, Guinnetta Mixon Tatman of Blairsville; daughter and son in law, Rebecca and Kenneth Klase of Greensboro, North Carolina; and G. Cecile and Ian Harwood of Conyers, Georgia; sons, Lewis William Tatman and Robert Wesley Tatman, both of Blairsville; brother and sister in law, John and Donna Tatman of Buena Park, California; grandsons Jonathan(Jessica) Tatman, David(Lanay) Fonda, William Fonda, Christopher Tatman, Marietta Klase and Carrie Klase and great grandchildren, Keegan Tatman and Julianna Tatman.
Graveside services were held Thursday, September 15, 2011 at 12:00 p.m. from Mt. Zion United Methodist Church Campground Cemetery in Griffin, Georgia, with Rev. Darris Baker officiating. Memorial services are scheduled for Sunday, September 25, 2011, at 4 p.m., at Sharp Memorial United Methodist Church in Young Harris, Georgia.
