Mr. James Cecil Ensley, age 83 of Young Harris, GA, formerly of Marietta, passed away Thursday, July 12, 2007 at Kindred Hospital in Atlanta. Mr. Ensley was born Monday, February 11, 1924 in Union County, GA to the late Franklin Ensley and the late Verdie Duckworth Ensley. He was a member of and had the oldest membership in Old Union Baptist Church. He attended Towns County High School. Mr. Ensley was a WW II Veteran having served for 3 years in the Pacific Theatre, Okinawa, Aviation Battalion and Engineer Corps. He was a welder and millwright at the Lakewood GM plant where he retired after 30 years. He was a skilled tradesman. James loved to play music. He loved watching racing and he also loved to fish. He was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Betty Jean Howell Ensley and granddaughter, Dana Legg..
Survivors include: daughters, Sharon Legg of Jasper, GA Debra Norton of Hiawassee, GA and Marilyn Oliver Taylor of Rockmart, GA, sisters, Willabel "Fritz" Caylor of Blairsville, GA and Mildred "Millie" Haigler of Hiawassee, GA, brothers, Bob Ensley and Sam Ensley of Blairsville, GA, sister, Sara Posin of Las Vegas, NV and brother, Frank Ensley, Jr. of Young Harris, GA, grandchildren , Jennifer Oliver Husley, Jace C.M. Oliver, Darren Legg, James Trenton Legg, and Rachel Norton and great grandchildren, Kaitlyn Hulsey and Josh Hulsey and many other relatives and friends also survive.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 14, 2007 at 2:00 PM from the Old Union Baptist Church with the Rev. Jimmy Hogsed and Rev. Jimmy Rogers officiating. The body will lie instate at the church Saturday from 1:30 until 2:00. Music will be by Robert Brewer, Ken Ensley, Sammy Ensley and Wayde Powell, III. Pallbearers will be Wayne Collins, Dennis Handy, Stacy Collins, Tray Hicks, "Strick" Strickland, Jace Oliver and Jason Hulsey. Honorary Pallbearers will be Eric England and Clinton "Slick" Colliins. Interment will follow in the Old Union Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6-9, Friday, July 13.
