James Burl Peery

James Burl Peery JR (Jim), loving husband, father, grandfather and friend to many, passed away peacefully at home in Blue Ridge, GA on Saturday February 28, 2015 at the age of 68.

Jim was born October 24, 1946 in Maryville, TN and was preceded in death by his parents, James Burl Peery, SR and Jewell S. Peery

Jim is survived by his wife and soul mate Elaine S. Peery, daughter and son-in-law Jil R. Miller (Sterling) and son James P. Peery. Grandchildren Hamilton, Wyatt, Charlotte, Sophia and Grayson Miller. Kaylee, James Burl III and Allaurah Peery. Stepsons and daughter-in-laws John (Dawne), Brian (Tammie) Moore. Step-grandsons Ian, Sean and Aiden Moore.

Jim enjoyed a life of public and military service work, including 3+ years in the Navy aboard the USS Saratoga and served 24 years with the Daytona Beach Police Department where he retired as a Lieutenant.

Jim was a member of Temple Baptist Church in Blue Ridge. Jim never met a stranger, he had a magnetic personality that drew people to him. Jim adored his wife and family and especially loved his little dog "Peanut."

A celebration of Jim's life will be memorialized at Temple Baptist Church, Sunday March 22, 2015, at 2:00 PM with Dr. Roger Beck officiating. Prior to the service, the family will receive visitors and friends from 1:00-2:00 PM. The church is at 28 High Country Circle, Morganton, GA (Hwy 515). Interment will follow on Monday, March 23, 2015 at 2:00 PM at the Georgia National Veterans Cemetery, 2025 Mount Carmel Church Lane, Canton, GA 30114.
