Cochran Funeral Home of Blairsville announces the death and funeral services for Mr. James A. Mason, age 89, of Lula, Georgia, formerly of Blairsville, Georgia, who passed away on Monday, August 2nd, 2021 at his home.
Mr. Mason was born in Andrews, North Carolina, a son of the late Henry McGilbert Mason and Margaret Luziene Morgan Mason. James proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy, as a Petty Officer, aboard the USS Cone. He and his family lived in Blairsville for 46 years before moving to Lula, 4 years ago. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Blairsville.
Surviving family members include his wife, Kay Cheek Mason, of Lula; daughter and son-in-law, Rhonda Kay and Brian Rogers, of Lula; daughter and fiance', Hope Elaine Seeber and Jared Skelton, of Woodstock, Georgia; and son, James Daniel "Jimmy" Mason, of Lula; brother, Verlus Mason, of Cary, North Carolina, and sister, Maxine Mackey, of Knoxville, Tennessee; grandchildren: Blake Mason Rogers (Lorena), Leah Hope Rogers, Britton Joseph Seeber, Karsyn Raye Skelton, and Karaline Alexis Skelton; many other relatives and friends also survive.
Funeral services have been scheduled for Saturday, August 7th, 2021, at 1:00 p.m., to be held in the Chapel of Cochran Funeral Home in Blairsville, with Capt. Robert H. Carpenter (USN Chaplain) and Dr. Fred Lodge officiating. Special music will be presented by Minister R. Terry Hooper and Mrs. Jackie Hill, and Melanie Bloomer. Blake Rogers, Leah Rogers, Britton Seeber, Chris Seeber, Johnny Postell and Joe Postell have been asked to serve as pallbearers. Burial will be on Saturday at 4 pm in Red Marble Baptist Church Cemetery, 1201 Red Marble Road, Andrews, North Carolina.
The family will meet with friends on Saturday, beginning at 11:00 a.m. before the service begins at 1:00 p.m.
