Cochran Funeral Home and Crematory of Blairsville announces funeral services for Mr. Jackie Radford Teague, age 74, of Columbia, Tennessee, who passed away Thursday, September 11, 2014 in Columbia.
Mr. Teague was born in Blairsville, on March 28, 1940, a son of the late Wayne Radford Teague and Mabel Patterson Teague. Jackie attended Union County High School from 1954 to 1958, and after graduation, went to work for General Motors. In Spring Hill, Tennessee, Jackie worked for General Motors as a union leader for the Saturn Corporation. He was also a former racecar driver, and had worked as a bodyguard for country music singer, Vern Gosdin. But the most important thing in Jackie's life that he did was accepting Jesus Christ as his savior, and he joined Riverview Baptist Church in Columbia, Tennessee.
Jackie will be tenderly remembered and greatly missed by his wife, Charlotte Miller Teague, of Columbia; daughter, Jacquelyn Marie Teague, of Murphy, North Carolina; step-son, Stephen Whitlow, of Jasper, Georgia; step-daughter, Melissa Whitlow, of Peachtree, North Carolina; and step-daughter, Jessica Whitlow, of Blue Ridge, Georgia; sister and brother-in-law, Catherine Teague Queen and Durwood Queen, of Woodstock, Georgia; sister, Carol Williamson, of Knoxville, Tennessee; and sister, Mary Deerwester, of Waynesville, North Carolina; granddaughter, Savannah Dockery Morgan; nieces and nephews and great nieces also survive.
Funeral services have been scheduled for Sunday, September 14, 2014, at 2:00 p.m.; to be held in the Chapel of Cochran Funeral Home of Blairsville with Rev. Jerry Helton officiating. The following gentlemen have been selected to serve as pallbearers: Chris Cochran, Charlie Sisson, Mark Edwards, Bobby Ryder, Jerry Lambert, and Mike Davis; Serving as honorary escort to the family will be Tim Williamson, Jacky Williamson, Laura Sisson, Trip Cavender, Wendell Patterson, Mark Burger, and Jack Kelley. Burial will be in Mt. Zion Baptist Church Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be held at the funeral home on Saturday, September 13, 2014, between the hours of 1 until 5 p.m., and again from 6 until 9 p.m.
If you wish to make memorial contributions in honor of Jackie's memory, the family has suggested they be directed to St. Jude's Children's Hospital.
