Jackie Johnson Barnes, 82, of Blue Ridge, Georgia, passed away on Sunday, September 8, 2024, at Sonshine Manor Personal Care Home in Blairsville, GA. Jackie was born February 7, 1942, to Glenn and Lestie Harper Barnes. Born at home in Mineral Bluff, GA

Jackie was preceded in death by father, Glenn Barnes; mother, Lestie Harper Barnes; son, Greggory Cofer; brother, Jerry Barnes; sister, Ruby Barnes Hyatt; and brother, Kenneth Barnes.

He is survived by his son, Caleb (Tanna) Barnes; daughter, Sally Allen; sisters, Faye (William) Mashburn, and Louise Leakey; brothers, Wendall Barnes; grandchildren, Daniel Cofer, Addelyn Barnes, Trevor Barnes, Andy Allen, and Katie Allen; great-grandchild, Ava Cofer, niece Janet Hawkins.

Jackie loved God and was a member of New Prospect Baptist Church. He loved his family and enjoyed spending time with them. He was known as a hard worker and was a true entrepreneur at heart. He enjoyed talking to people and never met a stranger. He had a generous heart and helped anyone who had a need. His favorite pastimes included fishing, making a deal, and serving the lord. Jackie was a proud veteran and served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He was a proud and loving father and grandfather. 

Funeral Service, on Friday, September 13, 2024, at 11:00 AM at New Prospect Baptist Church with Randy Kaylor officiating. Music provided by New Prospect Baptist Church.

The following gentlemen will serve as pallbearers, Daniel Cofer, Caleb Barnes, Philip Thomas, Nathan Tipton, Roger Hyatt, and Billy Mashburn. 

Interment will follow at New Prospect Baptist Church in Mineral Bluff Georgia. Military Honors will be conducted by the North Georgia Honor Guard.

The family will receive friends at Cochran-McDaniel Funeral Home, Blue Ridge Chapel on Thursday, September 12, 2024, from 5:00 PM - 8:00 PM.
