Jack Lloyd Cole

June 1, 1925 — April 30, 2013

The Cochran Funeral Home of Hiawassee announces funeral services for Mr. Jack Lloyd Cole, age 87, of Hiawassee who passed away on Tuesday, April 30, 2013 at home surrounded by the love of his family.

Jack was born on June 1, 1925 in Royal Oak, Michigan to the late Jeff & Lucy Cole. When Jack was a young boy his family moved from Michigan to Miami where He and his 3 brothers grew up boating and deep sea fishing. As a young man, he joined the Marine Corps and faithfully served in WWII as a bugler. After his military service he continued to serve with dedication as a Sergeant with the Surfside Police Department for 27 years. Upon retirement, Jack moved to North Georgia. Jack married Kathleen and they enjoyed the peace of the mountains and also lived part-time in Key Largo where he could pursue his favorite hobbies: boating and deep sea fishing. With a deep quiet faith in the Lord, He was a member of Macedonia Baptist Church. Jack was a man of few words, but what he said carried weight and you knew it came from the heart. He was a sincere man who believed in giving others the benefit of the doubt.

He will be fondly remembered by all who knew him, but especially missed by his family: loving wife of 25 years, Kathleen Ditmore Cole; daughters, Jackie Eaton, Judy Chandler and Lynda Cole; step daughter, Jan Solesbee Waite; step son, Gary Solesbee; brother, Wally Cole; 7 grandchildren and several great grandchildren. Jack was dearly loved and will always be in our hearts.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm on Friday, May 3, 2013 from the Chapel of Cochran Funeral Home of Hiawassee with Rev. Harold Ledford and Rev. Jim Rogers officiating.
