Cochran Funeral Home of Blairsville announces funeral services for Mr. Jack Leon Teague, age 92, of Fayetteville, Georgia, formerly of Blairsville, who passed away on Wednesday, June 8, 2016 in Piedmont Fayette Hospital in Fayetteville.
Mr. Teague was born in Taft, California, on October 17, 1923, a son of the late Thomas Watson Teague and the late Minnie Louise Mauney Teague. Jack was a World War II U.S. Marine veteran, attaining the rank of Sergeant and served in the Pacific Theatre. For 24 years, Jack worked as a machinist specialist for Delta Airlines. He never had an ill word to say about anyone, and was a loyal friend - a quiet, giving person. A loving and kind husband, father and grandfather, and was very much a man of integrity. Besides his parents, Jack also had a sister, Hazel McClure, that preceded him in death.
Jack will be greatly missed by all who knew him, especially by his loving family members: his wife, Patricia Ledford Teague, of Fayetteville; daughter and son-in-law, Janie Teague Howell and David Howell, of Lexington, South Carolina; and son, Jack Teague, Jr., of Fayetteville; a sister, Doris Woods, of Marietta, Georgia; five grandchildren: Stephen P. Howell, of Lexington, South Carolina; Elizabeth Howell, of Charleston, South Carolina; 1st. Lt. Alexander Howell, of Okinawa, Japan; Angus Teague, of McDonough, Georgia; Elizabeth Dennard, of Athens, Georgia; two great grandchildren, Jenna Howell and Addison Howell; many nieces, nephews, and other relatives also survive.
Funeral services have been scheduled for Sunday, June 12, 2016, at 3:00 p.m., to be held in the Chapel of Cochran Funeral Home in Blairsville, with Dr. J. Warren Smith and Rev. Tony Black officiating. The following gentlemen have been selected to serve as pallbearers: Allen Chapman, Lewis Chapman, Bryan Chapman, Junior Puett, Gerald Owenby, and Bruce Gray. Military Honors will be presented by U.S. Marine Corps Honor Guard and North Georgia Honor Guard. Burial will be in Ivy Log Cemetery.
The family will meet with friends on Sunday, the same day of the service, beginning at 1:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Cochran Funeral Home.
