Ian Robert McDuffie, age 28 of Woodstock, GA passed away February 10, 2012 at the Northside Hospital in Atlanta. Ian was born August 21, 1983 in Amsterdam, NY to Michael A. McDuffie, Sr. and Michele D. Davis. He was preceded in death by his father Mike, Sr., paternal grandparents, Joan & Purly McDuffie, and maternal grandmother Mildred Davis.
Survivors include: mother, Michele Knapik, step-father John (Boomer) Knapik, brother, Michael McDuffie, Jr., Uncle, Jon McDuffie, Uncle, Robert Sanders, also cousins and many friends.
Ian was an accomplished drummer, playing in "Hypnotica" in NY and "Endless Reflection" in GA. He attended the Institute of Audio Research in New York City and earned his degree in sound engineering. Ian's love was music, especially metal, although he embraced and appreciated all. Those who had the pleasure of knowing Ian, experienced a man who always gave of himself to others. He was a gentle soul who looked for the positive in everything he did. Always willing to lend a helping hand whenever he could, whether it be for a friend or a stranger, if Ian was present...it was done. He loved passionately, lived his life with that same passion, and brought that great energy everywhere he went, making lifelong friends along the way. It was contagious.......he made sure of that.
A celebration of his life will be held in GA late March, early April. His family will celebrate his life in NY this summer with family and friends. A detailed announcement of this celebration will be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, because of his love of animals, donations can be made to a local shelter in his memory.
Arrangements entrusted to the Henry-Cochran Funeral Home of Blue Ridge, GA. You may send condolences to the family and sign the guest register at www.cochranfuneralhomes.com.
