Hugh C. Hoodenpyle

Cochran Funeral Home of Hiawassee announces the death of Mr. Hugh C. Hoodenpyle, age 88, of Hiawassee, who passed away Wednesday evening, August 1, 2012, in Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville.

Hugh and his wife Colleen have lived in Hiawassee for the past 62 years. He was a member of the Hiawassee United Methodist Church and a member of Unicoy Lodge #259 F&AM for over 60 years. Hugh was a long time business person and loved the Towns County Community. He also served on the Towns County Board of Education and the Hiawassee City Council for many years.

Survivors include his wife of 69 years, Colleen Hoodenpyle of Hiawassee; two sons, Richard Hoodenpyle and his wife Belinda of Sylva, NC and David Hoodenpyle and his wife Connie of Morganton, GA. Three granddaughters, one step-grandson and three great grandchildren also survive.

Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Saturday, August 4, 2012 at the Chapel of Cochran Funeral Home of Hiawassee with Rev. Sam Hamby and Rev. Michael Stewart officiating. Music will be provided by Ryan Wilson and Laitisha Usher. The family will receive friends Saturday from 12 until 2.
