Howard Thomas Starrett

The Cochran Funeral Home of Hiawassee announces Graveside Services for Mr. Howard Thomas Starrett, Sr., age 94 of Hiawassee who passed away on Saturday July 18, 2020. Howard had been a resident of Hiawassee for the past 35 years. He was a member of McConnell Memorial Baptist Church and the Unicoy Lodge #259 F&AM.
Howard loved to make people feel good. He was quick with a joke and let people know that he loved them. Howard never met a stranger. He came from a large family and was the last survivor of 10 brothers and sisters.
Howard was preceded in death by his wife of 67 years, Betty Callaway Starrett.
Howard will be missed by all who knew him, but especially missed by his family: son & daughter-in-law, Tom & Liz Starrett of Blairsville; son & daughter-in-law, Terry & Brenda Starrett of Sharpsburg, Georgia; grandchildren, Erica Starrett (Blake) Bearden, April Starrett (Cory) Seabolt, and Connor Lee Starrett. Also, sharing in his legacy are 3 great grandsons and 1 great granddaughter.
A small graveside service will be held for family and friends at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 21, 2020 at Osborn Cemetery with Pastor Danny Byers officiating. The following gentlemen have been selected to serve as pallbearers: Connor Starrett, Ron Pike, Blake Bearden, Cory Seabolt, and Ben Telenko.
If you wish, the family suggests memorial donations be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital.
