Herschel Ray Allen, age 61 of McCaysville, GA went home to be with his Lord on Monday, July 29, 2019. Ray was born August 7, 1957, in Copperhill, TN to the late Herschel Ray and Josie Gilbert. He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Dianne Ross and Sherrie Henderson; son, James Allen; niece, Angle Lowery; and his beloved fur baby, Thunder Allen.
Survivors include: wife, Joann Allen; sister, Carylon Lowery; daughter, Dawn (Mark) Rice; step-daughters, Gwen (Clancy) Deel and Nancy Allen; step-son, Mike (Tina) Smith; five nephews; seven nieces; grandchildren, Briana (Justin) Monroe, Carissa (Evan) Monroe, Blake Allen, Alyssa Dilbeck, Caelan Deel, seven great-grandchildren and his beloved fur babies; Fancy Allen and Camo Allen. Ray was a master cabinet maker for many years. He enjoyed taking long rides through the mountains with his fur babies. He loved the outdoors and spending time with his family and friends. He could always make you laugh and there was never a dull moment when he was around. He had a smile that could light up a room. He will be missed very much by his family and friends.
Memorial services will be held Friday, August 2, 2019, at 2:00 pm from The Henry Cochran Funeral Home Of Blue Ridge, GA with Joey Ensley officiating. We will be saying our final goodbye at Jacks River in Epworth, GA immediately after the service.
The Family will be accepting donations and flowers at Henry Cochran Funeral Home of Blue Ridge, GA.
