Mrs. Helen Hunter Hanson, age 77 of Young Harris, GA passed away Wednesday, February 13, 2013 at her home. Mrs. Hanson was born November 15, 1935 in Lawrenceville, GA to the late Golden and Nora Wages Hunter. Helen worked as an office manager with the Williford, Windham and Store Accounting Firm before her retirement. She and her Husband then moved to Young Harris. Mrs. Hanson was a member of Notla Baptist Church, the American Legion Auxiliary, and the Blairsville Christian Women's Club. She, along with her late husband, Joe, loved to garden. With the vegetables grown in her garden, she would can and preserve them to prepare delicious meals for her family. She loved to cook and bake. Also, due to her accounting background, she was always available to help her family and friends with their taxes and accounting. Mrs. Hanson was preceded in death by; her first husband, Ernest Cooper, her second husband, Joseph Hanson, Brothers, Zane Hunter, Zeke Hunter, Florence Hunter, and Joel Hunter and sister, Frances Nash.
Survivors include: daughter and son-in-law, Zanza and Kevin Malone of Avondale Estates, GA, step-daughter, Cynthia Robertson and her husband, Mitch, of Lawrenceville, GA, Brother and sister-in-law, Horace and Ellen Hunter of Madison, GA, Brother and sister-in-law, Floyd and Sarah Hunter of Lawrenceville, GA, and Brother and sister-in-law, Eugene and Joanne Hunter of Grayson, GA. Many Nieces, Nephews and other relatives also survive.
Funeral services are scheduled for Saturday, February 16, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at the Chapel of the Cochran Funeral Home of Blairsville with the Rev. James Paul officiating. Music will be provided by Rev. James Paul. Interment will follow in the Union Memory Gardens Cemetery.
Friends may call anytime after 3: 00 p.m. Friday, Feb. 15th at the Cochran Funeral Home of Blairsville, however, the family will especially meet with friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Friday.
