Helen Fortner Epperson, age 83 of Epworth, passed away Tuesday, February 26, 2008 at Fannin Regional Hospital. Helen was born Tuesday, August 19, 1924 in Fannin Co. Ga to the late William Floyd Fortner and the late Leona Beavers Fortner. She was a member of the First Baptist Church Of Epworth, Pink Lady Aux and the Epworth Community Club.
Survivors include: daughter & son-in-law, Cindy & Rick Jenkins of Barbados, son & daughter-in-law, Freddie & Debbie Epperson of Epworth, son & daughter-in-law, Steve & Viv Epperson of Piedmont, SC, son & daughter-in-law, Randy & Karen Epperson of Epworth, seven grandchildren, Patrick, Derrick, Callie, Emily, Caitlin, Layne and Slade, brothers, Edward Fortner, Royce Fortner and Junior Fortner, sister, Midge Powell, nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 1, 2008 at 1:00 PM from the Epworth First Baptist Church with Dr. Tom Jordan and Rev. Chan Mitchell officiating. Music will be provided by Doug Simonds and Tammy Mason. Interment in the Church Cemetery. Serving as casketbearers are: C.W. Mason, Jr., Bill Mason, Will Mason, Patrick Jenkins, Derrick Jenkins, John Powell and Brad Mitchell. Honorary escort include: Pink Ladies Aux. and the T.E.L. Sunday School Class.
Mrs. Epperson will lay in-state at the funeral home from 8:30 Till 10:00 AM and the family will receive friends from 10:00 - 12:00 P.M. on Saturday, March 1, 2008.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations may be made to First Baptist Church of Epworth Building Fund.
