Heyward Montgomery Wilson

Heyward Montgomery Wilson, age 80, of Hiawassee, Georgia, passed away Tuesday, September 6, 2022, at his residence in Hiawassee, GA. He was born June 21, 1942, in Towns County to the late Montgomery and Reide Allen Wilson.

Heyward was preceded in death by his wife, Lucille Wilson; brother, Kerry Wilson; and sister, Janice Philyaw. He was a US Air Force Veteran and had retired as a school teacher with Towns County School System. He actively attended Friendship Baptist Church in Hiawassee and Good Shepard Church in Hayesville.
Survivors include his son Marcus Wilson; daughter Michelle (Tom) Perry; brother-in-law Durand Philyaw; sister-in-law Patti Wilson; granddaughters Jessica Edwards and Lydia Lawrence; and grandson Jonathon Wilson; many great-grandchildren also survive.
The family request in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Friendship Baptist Church in Hiawassee or Good Shepard Church in Hayesville.
The family will receive friends at the Cochran Funeral Home in Hiawassee Saturday evening, September 10, from 3 PM till 7 PM.
