Hattie Mable Sherlin Swanson

May 12, 1921 — February 13, 2008

Hattie Mable Sherlin Swanson, age 86 of Marble, passed away Wednesday, February 13, 2008 at Murphy Medical Center. Hattie was born Thursday, May 12, 1921 in Clay County NC to the late Kelly Burns (K.B.) Sherlin and the late Bessie Mable (Miller) Sherlin. She was a homemaker and of the Baptist Faith. She was preceded in death by husband, Rufus Paul Swanson March 8, 1958 and son Edward (Ed) Paul Swanson on August 23, 1992, brothers, Howard Sherlin, Edward Horace Sherlin, James Sherlin, Herbert Sherlin, Hoover Sherlin, Earl Sherlin and Billy Sherlin, sisters, Glenna (Sherlin) Daily, Helen L. Sherlin, Anna Rebecca (Sherlin) Marr. Mrs. Swanson was the last survioring member of her immediate Sherlin Family.

Survivors include: daughters & son-in-laws, Betty & Sonny Rhymer of Greenville, SC and Emma & Virgil Radford of Marble; sons & daughter-in-laws, Carl & Elaine Swanson of Marble, Herman & Shirley Swanson of Hiawassee, Henry & Debbie Swanson of Murphy, James (Jimmy) & Kathy Swanson of Warne; son, David Swanson of Marble; twelve grandchildren, seven step grandchildren, twenty one great grandchildren and, eight step great grandchildren, many nieces, nephews and a special caregiver, Wanda Ware.

Funeral services will be held Friday, February 15, 2008 at 2:00PM from the Cochran Funeral Home Chapel with the Reverend Ricky Rogers, Reverend Steve Ware and Reverend Jimmy Rogers officiating. Music will be provided by Sonny Richter and Group. Interment will follow in Tomotla Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers are: Danny McClure, Tommy Swanson, Junior Radford, Dwight Swanson, Daniel Swanson, Corey Radford, Joshua Trantham and Michael McClure. Honorary pallbearers include: William Moss, Aaron Trantham, Evan Radford and James Nelson.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday, February 14, from 6-9 PM.

Friends may call on the family at Oak Grove Baptist Church fellowship hall in Marble.
