Cochran Funeral Home and Crematory of Blairsville announces funeral services for Rev. Harry Collins, age 73, of Wadley, Alabama, who passed away on Wednesday, August 16, 2017 in East Alabama Medical Center in Opelika, Alabama.
Rev. Collins was born in Blairsville, a son of the late Dewey and the late Ouva Brackett Collins. Rev. Collins lived in Gwinnett County for over 40 years and lived in Wadley, Alabama for the past 12 years. He was a bi-vocational Baptist minister who pastored many churches over the years and witnessed to people during the years he drove his truck as his other job. When in Blairsville, he attended Old Liberty Baptist Church.
Rev. Collins will be greatly missed by all who knew him, and his memory especially treasured by his loving family members: his wife, Rose Mary Collins; son and daughter-in-law, Russell J. and Julie Collins; daughter and son-in-law, Jeanne and Jim Thrift; and son, Vince Collins; brother and sister-in-law, Gerald and Gail Collins; sister, Joanne Deaver; and half brother, Ronnie Collins; five grandchildren: Tyler J. Collins, Justin Heath Summerour, Holly Amanda Thrift, Charles Jacob Collins, and Christian James Thrift. Many other relatives and friends also survive.
Funeral services for Rev. Collins have been scheduled for Saturday, August 19, 2017, at 2:00 p.m., to be held in the Chapel of Cochran Funeral Home of Blairsville, with Rev. Harley Hunter officiating. The following gentlemen have the honor of being selected to serve as pallbearers: Tyler J. Collins, Justin Summerour, Charles Jacob Collins, Christian James Thrift, Jim Thrift, and Cameron Seay. Burial will be in Old Liberty Baptist Church Cemetery. Visitation at the funeral home will be on Friday evening, August 18, 2017, from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m.
