Hal Wayne Newton

Mr. Hal Wayne Newton, Sr. age 75 of Marble, formerly of Gastonia, passed away Saturday, August 11, 2018 at the Erlanger Medical Center in Chattanooga, TN. Hal was born November 1, 1942 in Murphy, NC to the late C.B. Newton and the late Birdell Brooks Newton. A member of Mount Zion Baptist Church, he was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Ronald Newton, also a nephew, Jason D. Newton. Hal worked as a superintendent for Homelite/John Deer for many years and enjoyed golfing and farming in his spare time.

Survivors include loving wife of 56 years, Betty Revis Newton, son, Hal Newton, Jr., daughter, Glenda and (Matthew) Payseur, sons, Jon Newton, Mark Newton and Luke Newton, two sisters, Peggy King and Eva Lowe, three brothers, L.C. and (Sandra) Newton, Richard and (Sue) Newton and Dillard and (Debbie) Newton, three grandchildren, Trish Conner, Brittney Weaver and Brandy Weaver and one great-grandchild, Bentley Conner.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, August 15, 2018 at 2:00 pm at the Cochran Funeral Home of Murphy with Rev. Harold Stiles officiating. Interment will follow in the Peachtree Memorial Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Mark Newton, Jon Newton, Luke Newton, Isaac Stafford, Adam Powell, and Matthew Payseur. Honorary pallbearers include Richard Newton and Timmy Hopkins.

The family will receive friends at the Cochran Funeral Home, Tuesday, August 14, 2018, from 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm.
