Grace Abercrombie

Mrs. Grace Grizzle Abercrombie, age 78, of Blairsville, who passed away Monday, June 21, 2010, at her home.

Mrs. Abercrombie was born in Suches, Georgia, on February 29, 1932, a daughter of the late Lewis and Rebecca Milberry Jarrard Grizzle. She was a lifelong resident of this area and a homemaker. Grace loved to garden, enjoyed reading, and was of the Baptist faith. Preceding her in death besides her parents, was her husband, Garnie; and three sons: Larry, Jerry, and Kenneth Abercrombie; brothers, Grady, Garnie and Richard Grizzle; sisters, Mary Pickelsimer, Grapelle Pickelsimer, Lizzie Carder and Julia Grizzle.

Surviving family members include grandson and his wife, Barry and Jenny Abercrombie, of Blairsville; great granddaughters: Callie Abercrombie and Savannah Abercrombie. Several nieces, nephews and many friends also survive.

Funeral services are scheduled for Wednesday, June 23, 2010, at 2:00 p.m., and will be held in the Chapel of Cochran Funeral Home, with Rev. Don Hood officiating. The following gentlemen have been selected to serve as pallbearers: Zack Stafford, Richard Stafford, Jerry Webb, Dave Grizzle, Kevin Grizzle, and Mike Crenshaw. Burial will be in Harmony Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. Visitation at the funeral home will begin after 6 p.m., on Tuesday evening, and the family will especially be meeting with friends from 6 until 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
