Mr. Gordon B. Payne, age 81 of Blairsville, GA, passed away Tuesday, September 11, 2007 at Union General Hospital.
Mr. Payne was born Friday, September 10, 1926 in Union Co., GA to the late Charles Monroe and Virginia Ross Payne. He was a member and Deacon of New Union Baptist Church and member and Past Master of Young Cane Masonic Lodge # 597 F & AM. He was preceded in death by sister, Bessie Cain and brother, George Payne.
Survivors include: wife of 60 years, Mary Payne of Blairsville, GA, sons, Donald B. Payne of Blairsville, GA, Brian K. Payne of Mineral Bluff, GA, daughters and sons-in-law, Chearl and Jerry Ballew of Blairsville, GA, Darlene and Wendell Murphy of Blairsville, Ga, Barbara and Tommy Rogers of Blairsville, GA, Dianne and Dale Spivey of Blairsville, GA, and Annette and Ron Whitmer of Blairsville, GA, brother and sister-in-law, Major and Grace Payne of Blairsville, GA, fifteen grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren, three step-great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Friday, September 14, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. from the Chapel of Cochran Funeral Home with Rev. Steve Youngblood and Rev. Harrison Bradley officiating. Music will be provided by New Union Baptist Church Choir. Interment will follow in New Union Baptist Church Cemetery with Masonic Graveside Rites by Young Cane Masonic Lodge # 597 F & AM. Pallbearers will be Kevin Payne, Levi Payne, Jerry Ballew, JR, Stephen Ballew, David Murphy, Derek Spivey, Keith Payne.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6-9, Thursday, September 13.
The Cochran Funeral Home of Blairsville, Georgia is in charge of arrangements.
