Gladys Hood

The Cochran Funeral Home of Hiawassee announces funeral services for Mrs. Gladys Inez Hood, age 89, of Andrews, North Carolina, formerly of Hiawassee, Georgia, who passed away on November 3, 2012.

Mrs. Hood was born in Woodstock, Georgia, on March 25, 1923, a daughter of the late Gusie Lee Pruitt and the late Lessie Smith Pruitt. She moved to our area in 1983, from the Atlanta area. Mrs. Hood attended Macedonia Baptist Church in Hiawassee. She was preceded in death by her husband, Theodore Hood, in 2003.

Mrs. Hood is survived by her loving family members: son and daughter-in-law, Gerald and Sharon Hood, of Jackson, New Jersey. Brothers, Doyle Pruitt, Herman Pruitt; Sisters, Jewell Adams, Ellen Holland, and Jettie Capps. Granddaughter, Kelly Hood Heskett, and her husband, Josh, of Jessup, Maryland; great grandchildren, Isabella and Benjamin.

Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, November 10, 2012 from the Chapel of Cochran Funeral Home of Hiawassee with Rev. Josh Bennett and Rev. David Ash officiating. A special poem will be read by Jolene Adams. Specially selected music will be presented by Stanley and Carol Wood. The following gentlemen will serve as pallbearers: Harry Pruitt, Tim Adams, Nathanial Adams, Keith Hood, Walter Blalock, Greg Langevin, and Jeff Pruitt. Serving as honorary escort to the family will be Herman Pruitt. Interment will follow in Macedonia Baptist Church Cemetery.The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday from noon until the service begins.
