Gerald Keller

October 9, 1933 — December 18, 2016

Gerald L. Keller, 83, of Hiawassee, Georgia passed away peacefully the evening of Sunday, December 18th, 2016 at the NE Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville, GA. Born in College Park, GA to Annie Louise and Eugene Keller he lived most of his life in Georgia.

Gerald is survived by his three children, Kathy (Joe) Robb, Brian Keller and Derek Keller, his grandchildren Courtney Keller and Ian Keller with great grandchildren Phoenix Canchola and Silas Keller. His wife Rheba Keller predeceased him in June of 2015.

Gerald graduated from North Georgia Military College in Dahlonega and served as a Captain in the Army at Ft Sill, Oklahoma. Gerald then began his career as a Chemist and went on to retire from Delta Air Lines after 29 years of service as the Chief Metallurgist in the jet base located in Atlanta, GA. Staying in touch with old friends, spending time creating new and reliving old fishing stories were some of his favorite pass times. Gerald and wife Rheba were very active members at McConnell Baptist Church in Hiawassee, serving as a Deacon and pitching on the church softball team while Rheba worked with the children. Well known in the church kitchen as the preferred biscuit maker for early morning Breakfasts and chicken fryer for Wednesday night dinners. An avid fan of baseball and football and showing off his computer skills kept him busy.

Memorial Service will be held on January 21, 2017 at 2:00 pm from Mcconnell Baptist Church, 84 Church St, Hiawassee, GA 30546. Family will receive friends one hour prior to service. Donations to the church building fund or to the My Turning Point Breast Cancer Charity in lieu of flowers would be respected.
