George Thomas Ertel

Mr. George Thomas Ertel, age 74 of , Turtletown, TN , passed away Monday, March 19, 2007 at Copper Basin Medical Center. Mr. Ertel was born Tuesday, February 21, 1933 in Wells County, IN to the late Alva Ertel and the late Mary Jenkins Ertel He was of Lutheran Faith. He served in the U.S. Army for twenty three years, serving in Korea and Vietnam. He was a member of the VFW, Ducktown Masonic Lodge, Scottish Rite and a Shriner. George was preceded in death by his son, Bill Ertel.

Survivors include: wife, Katharina Ertel, brother, Robert Ertel, half-brother, Howard Young, and half-brother, Jay Ertel.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, March 21, 2007 at from the Finch-Cochran Funeral Home Chapel at 7:30 PM with Reverend Dr. Gary Aven officiating. Interment will follow Thursday in Park Hill Cemetery in the Chapel of the Pines in Columbus, GA at 2:00 P. M.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6:00 P.M. until time of service, Wednesday, March 21.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations may be made to Shriners Hospital for Children, 3229 Burnet Ave., Cincinnati, Ohio 45229-3095.

The Finch-Cochran Funeral Home of McCaysville, Georgia is in charge of arrangements.
