Cochran Funeral Home and Crematory of Blairsville announces funeral services for George Daniel Morgan, age 73, of Lago Vista, TX died Wednesday, October 4, 2017 at Cedar Park Regional Medical Center after an extended illness. George was born on October 1, 1944, to the late George Casteel Morgan and the late Martha Louise Jordan Morgan.
Mr. Morgan was a native of Blairsville, GA and longtime member of Antioch Baptist Church. He was a graduate of Union County High School in Blairsville, GA, class of 1963. He enlisted in the United States Army where he actively served for three years. After being honorably discharged, he worked briefly for RCA in Virginia, but came back home when his father suffered a major heart attack. He joined the team at Clifton Precision in Murphy, North Carolina as a quality control supervisor where he met his wife. He later became a synchro/resolver design engineer and held the position of Engineering Manager and QC Manager simultaneously. Additionally, during the 80's, he taught night school at Tri-County Community College. He was employed at Clifton for 37 years before retiring in 2003.
George was an excellent provider, husband, father, grandfather, and uncle. He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Judy Solesbee Morgan, daughters, Karen and Vickie Morgan, son and daughter-in-law, Danny and Andrea Morgan, and grandchildren, Thomas, Jamie, and David Morgan.
Funeral services have been scheduled for Sunday, October 15, 2017, at 3:00 p.m., to be held at Antioch Baptist Church in Blairsville, with Rev. Dr. Billy Rabern and Rev. Mike Youngblood officiating. A eulogy will be given by his son, Danny Morgan. Burial will be in Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will meet with friends at The Antioch Family Life Center immediately following the service. Pallbearers: Ray Ahonen, Steve Ahonen, Randy Johnston, Terry Atkins, Waymond Morgan, and Danny Morgan.
