The Cochran Funeral Home of Blairsville announces funeral services for Mrs. Freda Puett Collins, age 85, of Young Harris who passed away Sunday morning, February 19, 2012.
Freda was a daughter of the late Frank B. Puett and the late Lela Berrong Puett. Besides her parents, she had been preceded in death by a son, Michael Hooper, of Young Harris, Georgia; two brothers, Frank Puett, Jr., and Sidney Puett. Freda was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star.
Surviving family members include a son, Stacy Collins, of Young Harris; two step-sons, Dwayne Collins, of Topsail Island, North Carolina; and Wayne Collins, of Young Harris; three brothers, Dennis Puett and his wife Karen Puett, of Marietta, Georgia; Merl "Bud" Puett and his wife Irene Puett, of Young Harris; and Max Puett and his wife, Francis Puett, of Blairsville; a sister, Dorothy Puett Sampson and her husband, Clarence Sampson, of Marietta; grandchildren: Blake Collins, of Young Harris; Crystal Engelskind, of Hayesville, North Carolina; and Candace Reece of Marietta; great grandchildren: Zane Atha, of Athens, Georgia; Montana Engelskind and Bentley Engelskind, both of Hayesville; many nieces, nephews, and great nieces, and great nephews also survive.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, February 22, 2012 from Old Brasstown Baptist Church with Rev. Jerry Helton & Rev. Tommy Jenkins officiating. The following gentlemen will be serving as pallbearers: Danny Brown, David Brown, Phillip Parramore, Melvin Silvey, Terry Plott, and Gene Henderson. Interment will follow in the Old Brasstown Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Cochran Funeral Home of Blairsville on Tuesday evening from 6 until 9 p.m.
