Fred Leatherwood

Fred Herbert Leatherwood known to everyone as "Shorty" went to his heavenly home on March 30th 2025. Shorty was known for his musical talents as he could play most any instrument put in his hands. He was the piano player for the Tri State Quartet for many years. Shorty enjoyed playing Baptist hymn's and doing the lords work most of all. He was of Baptist faith and attended Upper Peachtree Baptist Church.

Shorty was proceeded in death by his precious wife of 71 years Lillie Mae Leatherwood, his parents Bill and Spergin Leatherwood, two siblings Howard Leatherwood and Hilda Mctaggart and a great granddaughter Kenzlie Leatherwood.

Shorty leaves behind two siblings Bob Leatherwood and Martha "Peachie" Raxter, two children William "Buster" Leatherwood(Becky) and Sherry Plott(Rickey). Eight grandkids Crystal Leatherwood, Alicia Leatherwood(David Cook), Adam Leatherwood(Misty), Nathan Leatherwood, Stacey Leatherwood(Jamie), Maryanne Leatherwood, Jessica Moneymaker, and Ashley Gustafason(Neil). Sixteen great grandkids Chandler Green, Kaylee Leatherwood, Keena Leatherwood, Hannah Skripko, Kadence Leatherwood, Dawson Gustafason, Payton Dockery, Jeremiah Leatherwood, Landon Koszczepki, Paisley Gustafason, Ashton Moneymaker, Trysta Conley, Maddy Leatherwood, Kamden McClure, Kevin Leatherwood, Lillie Leatherwood and Grayson Gustafason. And a host of neices and nephews.

The family entrusts Cochran-McDaniel Funeral Home in Peachtree with his services on April 2, 2025 family will receive friends at 11:00am until 12:00pm then funeral service and burial will follow. Burial will be at Peachtree Memorial Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Adam Leatherwood, Nathan Leatherwood, Kadence Leatherwood, Neil Gustafason, Dawson Gustafason and David Cook.
