Mr. Franklin Holloway, age 77 of Murphy, passed away Thursday, December 11, 2014 at his home with his family by his side. Franklin was born July 14, 1937 in Murphy, NC to the late Ernest Holloway and the late Bessie Baker Holloway. A member of Calvary Baptist Church, he was preceded in death by four sisters, Thelma Francis, Delma Satterfield, Bertha Lee, and Flonie Mae Lee. Franklin enjoyed doing small engine repair in his spare time. He also liked to fish, but most of all he loved spending time with his grandchildren.
Survivors include his loving wife, Linda Nell Holloway, daughter, Patty Jane (husband Mark) Lovingood, son, Jeffrey Franklin Holloway (partner Tina Cain), two sisters, Deltha Cole and Freida Baxter, three grandchildren, Krista (husband Charlie) Lamb, Nicole (husband Lonnie) Sneed, and Alex Holloway, two great-grandchildren, Emily and Amber Lamb and also several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, December 14, 2014 at 2:00 pm at the Cochran Funeral Home of Murphy with the Deacon Clifford Lee officiating. Interment will follow in the Shady Grove Cemetery. Pallbearers include Jeff Holloway, Mark Lovingood, Carlos Palmer, Frank Shaffer, Eddie Morgan and Marion Morgan. Honorary pallbearers are Dr. David Mock, Dr. Eugenio Lamboy, Lonnie Sneed, Charles Lamb, Gary Lee, and Fred Laney.
The family will receive friends at the Cochran Funeral Home, Saturday evening from 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm.
