Mr. Frank D. Blanton, age 72 of Blue Ridge, passed away May 9, 2013 at the Erlanger Medical Center. Mr. Blanton was born May 30, 1940 in Cold Iron, KY to the late Cecil and Laura Blanton. He attended the Highland Baptist Tabernacle, and he was preceded in death by daughter, Lori Watson. Frank worked as a Highway Superintendent in Illinois for many years and he was a member of the Iron Workers Union. In his spare time he enjoyed going to the local dirt tracks to watch the races and he loved watching Nascar.
Survivors include loving wife, Mary Blanton, three daughters, Sonja Klerman, Michelle Herring, and LeAnn Daniels, two sisters, Evelyn Burkhart, and Bonnie Blankenship, granddaughter, Simone Stilphen, granddaughter, Samantha Klerman, grandson, Nat Blanton, grandson, Trace Herring, grandson, Zeke Watson, grandson, Judd Watson, and great-granddaughter, Ryleigh Stilphen.
A graveside service will be held Monday, May 13, 2013 at 1:00 pm at the Copper Ridge Memorial Gardens with Pastor Rusty Thomas officiating. The family requests that everyone meet at the funeral home at least an hour prior to the service so that everyone can go in procession. Pallbearers will be Nat Blanton, Trace Herring, Wes Daniels and Jimmy Price.
The family will receive friends at the Henry-Cochran Funeral Home of Blue Ridge, Sunday, May 12, 2013 from 5:00 pm - 8:00 pm. and Monday morning from 8:00 am until service time.
