Cochran Funeral Home of Hiawassee announces the death of Mr. Franklin D. McConnell Jr., age 62, who passed away on Saturday evening, March 24th, 2018 in Emory St. Joseph's Hospital.
Mr. McConnell was born July 19, 1955 in Young Harris, GA to the late Franklin Deleno Sr. & Patricia Ann Hensley McConnell. He is now reunited with his sister, Deborah Sue McConnell. Franklin was an avid Fisherman and Arrowhead Hunter, as well as being a devout member of the "Waffle House Club". Along with his many accomplishments Mr. McConnell is a United States Navy Veteran. He will be remembered by all who knew him, but especially missed by his family whom he loved so deeply. Children: Shannon McConnell (Shonna), Chawn McConnell (Kristie), Trish Wilbanks (Matthew), Adam McConnell (Stephanie); Sister, Kathy McConnell Shook (Brent); Grandchildren, Brittany McConnell Hawkins (Bryan), Hannah McConnell, Peyton McConnell, Zach Curle, Zoe Curle, Sophia McConnell, Daylon McConell, Caden McConnell, Riley Wilbanks, Megan Howe, Grace Howe, Addie Wilbanks, Janova McConnell.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, March 28, 2018 at 2:00pm from the Chapel of Cochran funeral Home of Hiawassee, with Rev. Jeff Johnson, Rev. Chris Grinstead and Rev Gary Martin officiating. The following have been selected to serve as pallbearers: Daylon McConnell, Caden McConnell, Peyton McConnell, Harris Borum Jr., Bryan Hawkins and Erick Mossenger. Interment will follow in the Burch Cemetery with Rev. Harris Borum officiating the committal. The family will recieve friends on Tuesday, March 27, 2018 from 4:00pm until 8:00pm at the Funeral Home.
