Mr. Franklin Cook, age 75 of Marietta, GA, formerly of Blairsville, passed away Thursday, July 3, 2008.
Mr. Cook was born Wednesday, January 11, 1933 in Union County, GA to the late John Waco Cook and the late Ulma Akins Cook. He was a member of Hertiage Baptist Church, the United Auto Workers and was a U.S. Air Force veteran during the Korean Conflict. He was preceded in death by brother, J.W. Cook.
Survivors include: wife, Frances Sampson Cook of Marietta, GA, daughter & son-in-law, Melissa Cook and David Sherman of Woodstock, GA, step grandson, Matthew Vansickle of Wookstock, GA, sister and brother-in-law, Verna Ree and Harold Shuler of Blairsville, GA, sister-in-law, Bill McDaris Cook of Norcross, GA.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, July 6, 2008 at 2:00 P.M. from the Cochran Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Jimmy Hogsed and Rev. Jimmy Rogers officiating. Music will be provided by Martha Cone. Interment will follow in Old Union Baptist Church Cemetery with military honors conducted by The North Georgia Honor Guard. Serving as pallbearers are: Jimmy Cook, Kenny Cook, Robert Gee, Danny Gee, Melvin Cook, and Craig Cook. Honorary pallbearers include: Leon Gee, Wymer Sampson, Jr., Preston Cook, Waymon Cook, and Harold Shuler.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6-9, Saturday, July 5.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations may be made to Wellstar Hospice/Tranquility, 4040 Hopital West Drive, Austell, GA 30106 or Old Union Baptist Church Building Fund, Young Harris, GA.
