Cochran Funeral Home of Blairsville announces the death of Frank McElroy, age 59, of Jonesboro, Georgia, formerly of Blairsville, passed away on Monday, March 16, 2015.
Frank was raised in Blairsville on his Grandfather's farm. Being a true historian at heart he spent
hours listening to his Grandfather, Abraham Lincoln Wilson while under the loving care of his
Grandmother Mary Wilson.
He fished and spent long summer days playing with his cousins Sara, Raymond, Brian, Marshall, Mary and Laura and Michael. Frank played football under his uncle and coach Tom Wilson and is a graduate of Union County High School. While in high school he worked for his Aunt Carol's Florist Shop. Frank joined the Army and proudly served our country in Germany during the Vietnam War. He was a dedicated, hard worker and spent the last 29 years with AirGas, Inc. where he made many lifelong friends. He was well read and we think he owned every copy of National Geographic printed. Frank was an avid fisherman and hunter, spending lots of time with family and friends searching for "The Big One". More than anything else, we remember Frank's love for his friends and family. He always showed up to every family function (and we have a big family!) with a big smile on his face and a Bigger Chocolate Cake to share with everyone.
In life, Frank always had a way of making each person feel very special. As we think of him today it comes to mind, "How you make someone feel is most important and that only comes with LOVE……love, Your family
