Mr. Frank Hein, Jr., age 76, of Blairsville, Georgia, passed away unexpectedly Saturday, January 6, 2007.
Mr. Hein was a native of Wisconsin; he then moved to Florida in the late 1930's. He was a humorous storyteller, boat-builder craftsman, soldier, deacon, and most of all, a loving father. Frank attended the University of Miami where he played football and volunteered for the U.S. Army during the Korean War.
Mr. Hein had won many awards in his lifetime. Some of his accomplishments were as follows: West Palm Beach, Florida police officer; later, a Deputy Sheriff in Vero Beach, Florida; a real-estate salesman; a criminal scene investigator; and serving in the National Safety Council Defensive Driving Campaign. He was a member of the Army-Navy Union, and the Eagles of Vero Beach; and the Explorers Boys and Girls Club. He then retired in 1993 and moved to Blairsville, Georgia.
Survivors include: wife, Sandra of Blairsville;son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Teri Hein of Virginia; son and daughter-in-law, Brad and Nickie McBride; daughter and son-in-law, Dawn and Jack Crandal, daughter and son-in-law, Linn and Carl Fore; daughter and son-in-law, Mona and Joe Smith of Indiana; daughter and son-in-law, Jody and Bruce Garwood of Florida; sister, Gina Campen of Florida; one nephew, 17 grandchildren and twenty great grandchildren. Preceding Mr. Hein in death was a son, Randy Hein.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, January 11, 2007 at 2:00 PM from the Chapel of Cochran Funeral Home with Rev. Ivan Rexroth officiating. Interment will follow in Union Memory Gardens Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5-8, Wednesday, January 10.
