Frances Aten

Frances Aten, age 98 of Hiawassee, GA, went on to be with her Lord on June 18, 2009 at Chatuge Regional Nursing Home, after a brief illness.She moved to Hiawassee in July of 1981 after retiring from school bus driving in Seminole County, FL.
Born in Bloomingdale, N.J. to George H. Tintle and Lucretia Franscio, move to Orlando, FL after the death of her husband, Russell Lloyd Aten in 1954. Frances was a member of Upper Hightower Baptist Church and Ladies Auxiliary Post 7807 of the VFW, Hiawassee and volunteered many hours for the VFW Thrift Store in Hiawassee until she was 90 years old. Gone on before Frances are two sons, Russell Lloyd Aten Jr. and Allen Leroy Aten, infant daughter, Betty Aten, grandson, Jeffery Lynn Aten-Hamilton, great-granddaughter, Gina Rene Bradshaw-Ditmore, great-great- grandchildren, Jake John Ditmore III, and Genesis Audra Ditmore.

Survivors include: son, Rodney Russell Aten and wife, Dinah of Hiawassee, GA, daughters, Dolores Wohrman and husband, Bill of Coral Springs, FL. and Lynda Aten, of Blairsville, GA, brother, Georgia H. Tintle Jr. of Long Beach CA, sister-in-law, Mrs. Otto Tintle of CA, daughter-in-law, Mrs. Russell Loyd Aten Jr.of N.J., many grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.

Frances will be buried along side her husband, Russell in Pompton Plains, N.J. A memorial service will be held at a later date for family and friends who wish to celebrate the life of Frances Tintle Aten.

The family wishes to thank each and every member of Chatuge Regional Hosptial and Nursing Home for the care and respect they have shown to Frances and her family while she was at both the hospital and nursing home. And a special thank you to Bruce, at the nursing home, for honoring the request made by the family while Frances was completing her journey to be with her Lord.

In lieu of flowers, Frances would want donations sent to Loins Club to help provide glasses and hearing aids for those who can not afford them.
