Flossie Odom Beaver (Odom)

Mrs. Flossie Odom Beaver, age 85 of Morganton, passed away August 20, 2013 at home. Mrs. Beaver was born September 7, 1927 in Murphy, NC to the late John Odom and the late Martha Walker. She became a member of Culberson Baptist Church on July 30, 1956. She enjoyed deer hunting, fishing and spending time with her grandchildren. She was a hard-working woman who raised seven kids and helped raise her grandchildren. She would often be found cooking, canning, gardening, and quilting to provide for her family. Her house was always open for Sunday dinner for family and loved ones. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 69 years, Elbert W. Beaver. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Kenneth and Liz Beaver; son and daughter-in-law, Jerry and Betty Beaver; daughter, Evelyn Hyde; daughter and son-in-law, Jessie Mae and Johnny Jones; daughter and son-in-law, Judy and John Patterson; daughter and son-in-law, Julie and Jerry Beavers; daughter and son-in-law, Joann and Tim McCord; thirteen grandchildren, nineteen great-grandchildren, three great-great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services: Thursday, August 22, 2013 at 2:00 pm at the Henry-Cochran Funeral Home with the Rev. Ricky Beaver and Rev. Ray Harper officiating. Music will be provided by Joann and Britney McCord and Homer Johnson. Interment will follow in Oak Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Jimmy Jones, Billy Jones, Koty Queen, Scottie Queen, Wesley Beaver and Tulsa Queen .

The family will receive friends at the Henry-Cochran Funeral Home of Blue Ridge Wednesday, August 21, 2013 from 6:00 - 9:00 pm.
