Florence "Bubbles" Delina Haney
June 28, 1940 — November 6, 2018
FLORENCE "BUBBLES" DELINA HANEY (nee PRATT), age 78, passed away on Tuesday, November 6, 2018 at the Erlanger Murphy Medical Center, Murphy, NC following a persistent illness. She was born in Boston, Massachusetts on June 28, 1940 to Clay W. Pratt and Muriel Hazel Pratt (nee Mason). Florence was the beloved wife of 49 years, to the late Winfred Eugene "Gene" Haney of Kinder, Louisiana.
"Bubbles" and "Gene" were married in Tampa, Florida where they met in High School. She received her GED and Licensed Practical Nurse certificates from Brewster Vocational School of Tampa. But instead of working as a Hospital Nurse, she gained a devoted career as a Dental Assistant for nearly 30 years. Florence was a devoted member of St. William Catholic Church in Murphy, NC. She considered the Church's loving parishioners as an extension of her own family and they too loved her.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband "Gene"; her brother William "Bill" Pratt, New Port Richey, FL; and sister Ruth Hughes (Pratt), Land O' Lakes, FL.
Survivors include two sisters; Marion Blount (Eddie) and Claire Fowler (Gregory); three sons; David E. Haney, Thomas G. Haney, Brian A. Haney (Glenda), and one daughter, Susan D. Haney Piatt (Scott). Also sharing in her legacy are ten grandchildren; Steven (Nancy), Laura (Bradley), Rebecca (Dylan), Melissa, Jessica (Paul), Grace, Ali (Austin), Abby, Karlee, Molly and seven great-grandchildren.
Special thanks to the caring Doctors and ICU staff at Erlanger Murphy Medical Center and the Murphy Rehabilitation facility. Personal thanks to our wonderful Church community and to our devoted and very supportive neighbors; Glenn and Marianne Taylor; Jim and Marlene Simon; Charles McLoughlin; and Karen Cook. Flo was loved by all that knew her.
A celebration of life and Memorial Mass will take place this Friday, November 16, 2018 at 11:00am, St. William Catholic Church, 765 Andrews Rd., Murphy, NC. A light luncheon reception for family and friends will take place following Mass in the Commons. The interment of Florence Haney's cremains with be at the Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, Florida, at a later date.
