F.l. "bud" Brock

October 15, 1917 — March 30, 2008

F.L. "Bud" Brock, age 90 of Marble, NC, passed away after a brief illness Sunday, March 30, 2008 at Presbyterian Hospital in Huntersville, NC. Mr. Brock was born Monday, October 15, 1917 in Jamestown, PA to the late Edward Ivory Brock and the late Marcia Alice Lyons Brock. He was a member of Peachtree United Methodist Church, an ordained Methodist Lay Minister, a member of the Plumbers/Pipe Fitters Union for over 65 years, Past President of Murphy Lions Club having served multiple times and was an active Boy Scout leader. His hobbies included farming, golfing, helping others and being active in church work. In 1965 he was awarded the highest honor in scouting, the Silver Beaver Award. Bud was a man of much wisdom. His love and care he had for everyone he met was genuine and true.

Survivors include: his wife of 68 years, Betty Jane Cross Brock of the home, sons and daughters-in-law, John C. and Johnnie Brock of Hudson, FL and William E. and Clara M. Huskins Brock of Denver, NC. 7 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren also survive.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, April 3, 2008 at 2:00 PM from the Peachtree United Methodist Church with the Rev. David Feathers officiating. Interment will follow in Peachtree Memorial Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers are: Justin Brock, John Brock II, Jared Brock, Todd Alexander, David Rankin and Brandon Fairbanks. Honorary pallbearers include: Members of the Murphy Lions Club, Lou Hardy, Buzz Staleup and Ralph Ames.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6-8 PM, Wednesday, April 2.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations may be made to Peachtree United Methodist Church or the Gideons.
