Mrs. Faye Queen, age 84, of Hiawassee, passed away Friday November 7, 2014 at her daughters home in Hiawassee, Ga. She was born on June 8, 1930, in Towns County Georgia. She was the daughter of Herschel and Ida Hooper Barnes. She worked for many years in the shipping department of Carolina Dress Co. in Hiawassee. In her later years she was mostly a home body who enjoyed working in her garden. (Some say she was born with a hoe in her hand).... Her garden made her happy, as did her family whom she loved very much, and they loved her. She attended North Mt. Zion Church of God where she was quite a prayer warrior. She lived each day with a strong faith in her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, that's what kept her going.
She was preceded in death by her husband Jay Queen, 3 brothers Alvoid Barnes and Van Barnes of Hiawassee, Ga. and Don Barnes of Young Harris, Ga.--4 sisters, Jurldeen Potter, Iva Lee Burrell, Regina Wheeler, and Irene Beck, all of Hiawassee, Ga.--
Mrs. Queen will be warmly remembered by all who knew her, and especially missed by her family, daughter and son-in-law Diane and Scott Adams of Hiawassee Ga., 3 step-children and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be at North Mt. Zion Church of God on Sunday November 9, 2014 at 2PM with Rev. Glenville Nichols and Rev. Scott Eller officiating. Music will be presented by Colby Pendry. Gentlemen given the honor to serve as pallbearers include: Eric Dean, Ricky Dean, Jackie Barnes, Johnny Barnes, Gary Barnes and Blake Craig Interment will be in the Pine Grove cemetery. Visitation will be in the chapel of Cochran Funeral Home of Hiawassee from 6-9 PM on Saturday November 8, 2014.
