Faye Brown

The Cochran Funeral Home & Crematory of Hiawassee announces Funeral Services for Mrs. Faye Brown, loving wife and devoted mother, died Thursday, January 12th at Arbor Terrace in Decatur, Georgia.

Born in 1924 in Newnan, Georgia, to Hugh and Ruby Glass, Faye grew up on a farm playing with her older brother, Julian Glass. She graduated from Greenleaf School of Business in Atlanta in the 1940s. After graduation, she worked for Amoco Oil, eventually becoming secretary to the Vice President.

Faye married the love of her life, Bill Brown, in 1950. Together they built Brown's Insurance Agency into a thriving business in the Grove Park area of Atlanta, eventually moving the agency to Mableton, Georgia.

Faye faithfully attended Fortified Hills Baptist Church, West Manor Baptist, Ben Hill Baptist and McConnell Baptist Church.

She loved cooking for friends and family, socializing, fishing, traveling and in her later years, WII bowling. She was known for her calm spirit, kind nature and dry sense of humor.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Bill Brown and brother Julian Glass. She is survived by her son Wm Scott Brown, Jr. of Golden, Colorado and daughter Cindy Brown of Pine Lake, Georgia, her niece Debbie Glass Boutin of Melbourne, Florida and nephews Dan Glass of Newnan, Georgia, Mark Easterwood of Apollo Beach, Florida and Larry Easterwood of Greensboro, North Carolina.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to the McConnell Baptist Church, Oakhurst Baptist Church or the Alzheimer's Association.

Funeral Services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 15, 2017 at McConnell Memorial Baptist Church with Rev. Danny Byers officiating. Interment will follow in Osborn Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday evening from 6 until 9 p.m.
