Cochran Funeral Home of Hiawassee announces funeral services for Mrs. Fairleen L. Melton, age 82, of Hiawassee, who passed away early Thursday morning, May 3, 2012 in Chatuge Regional Nursing Home in Hiawassee.
Mrs. Melton was born in Towns County, Georgia, on January 14, 1930, a daughter of the late Israel Odell Powell and Daisy Ramey Powell. She had lived most of her life in Hiawassee, and was preceded in death by her husband, John H. Melton, in 1998. Mrs. Melton was of the Baptist faith, and was a member of Enotah Baptist Church.
She is survived by her loving family: son and daughter-in-law, James L. and Martha Melton, of Hiawassee; son and daughter-in-law, Jesse and Carole Melton, of Blairsville; sister and brother-in-law, Maudeen and Norman Bradley, of Woodstock, Georgia; grandchildren: Jim Melton, Lisa Walls, Jennifer Hooper, Jessica Stover, and Blake Melton. Great Grandchildren are Braeden, Braxton, and Cason Hooper, Ava Stover and Maci Walls.
Funeral services have been scheduled for Saturday, May 5, 2012, at 1:00 p.m., in the Chapel of Cochran Funeral Home in Hiawassee, with Rev. Harold Ledford officiating. The following gentlemen have been selected to serve as pallbearers: Jim Melton, Blake Melton, Doug Barrett, Larry Barrett, Gene Rogers, and Jerry Rogers. Burial will be in Enotah Baptist Church Cemetery in Hiawassee.
Visitation at the funeral home will be on Friday night, May 4th, with the family especially meeting with friends from 6 until 9 p.m. at Cochran Funeral Home in Hiawassee.
