Mrs. Evon Nelson Ledford, age 83, of Corbin, KY, formerly of Blairsville, passed away Saturday, May 2, 2009 at Baptist Regional Medical Center, Corbin, KY.

Mrs. Ledford was born Saturday, April 17, 1926 in Union County, GA to the late John Clyde Nelson, Sr. and the late Minnie Bell Curtis Nelson. She was a member of Zebulon Baptist Church and was preceded in death by husband, Harley Ledford; brothers, Cecil Nelson and Hubert Nelson.

Survivors include: daughter and son-in-law, Pam and Larry Britton of Corbin, KY, brother, J.C. Nelson of Blairsville, GA, sister, Evelyn Guffey of Blairsville, GA, grandson, Jeff Britton, granddaughter, Gina Chatham, grandson, Jason Britton, great-grandson, Chris Britton, great-granddaughter, Abby Britton, great granddaughter, Amanda Chatham, great-granddaughter, Bridgett Chatham, great-granddaughter, Hannah Britton, great-grandson, Noah Britton, great-great-granddaughter, Alsya Chatham, great-great-grandson, Landon Chatham, several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, May 6, 2009 at 1:00 P.M. from the Zebulon Baptist Church with Rev. Tommy Jenkins officiating. Music will be provided by the Church Choir. Interment will follow in Union Memory Gardens. Serving as pallbearers are: Jeff Britton, Jason Britton, Chris Britton, Tim Deavers, Mike Callaway and Ronnie Thomas. Honorary pallbearers include: W.C. Nelson, Billy Nelson, Ed Towery, Harley Ledford, Jr, D.L. Martin, Wayne Abercrombie, Lloyd Kittle and Ray Rogers.

The family will receive friends Tuesday, April 5, 2009 at Cochran Funeral Home, Blairsville from 6-9 P.M..
