Evelyn Adams Yana

Mrs. Evelyn Adams Yana, age 80 of Ellijay, formerly of Fannin County, passed away June 9, 2015 at Heritage Hospice in Marietta. Evelyn was born May 27, 1935 in Fannin County, GA to the late Burley and Minnie Thomas. A member of Salem Baptist Church #2, she was preceded in death by four brothers and one sister, Porter Thomas, Howard Thomas, Nebraska Picklesimer, Freddie Thomas and Carl Thomas. Evelyn enjoyed sewing in her spare time. She was the department manager at Walmart in the fabrics and crafts department before she retired. She also enjoyed gardening and making floral arrangements. Most of all she loved to laugh and have fun with family and friends.

Survivors include loving husband, Ernie Yana, her three children, Joyce Adams (Virgil) Allen, Wanda Kay Adams (Michael) Leach, and Roger Quincy (Mitzi) Adams, sister, Hazel Cole, brother, Ulas (Sheila) Thomas, grandchildren, Kim Huffman, Renee Rigdon, Mindy Hughes, Jason Kaylor, Daniel Kaylor, Nikki Gribble, John Adams, and Tyler Adams, fourteen great-grandchildren, and two sisters-in-law, Rachel Turner and Fran Rutz.

Funeral services will be held Friday, June 12, 2015 at 4:00 pm at the Henry-Cochran Funeral Home with Pastor Dr. Paul Mims and Rev. Randy Hooper officiating. Music provided by Julie Whitworth, Rhonda Aaron and the Caylor Family Singers. Interment will follow in the Salem Baptist Church #2 Cemetery. Pallbearers will be grandsons and great-grandsons, John, Tyler, Jason, Evan, Zeke, and Blake. Honorary pallbearer will be grandson, Daniel.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 4-9 pm on Thursday evening.
