Mr. Evan Leroy Owen, age 91 of Blue Ridge, GA, passed away Monday, September 22, 2008 at Life Care Center of Copper Basin. Mr. Owen was born Wednesday, July 18, 1917 in Jamestown, PA. to Mert A. Owen and Alta (Loper) Owen. A member of Cpl. James O. Jordan Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post 3374 in Hempfield Twp. Owen served his country in WW11 in the US Navy. He was preceded in death by his parents, Mert and Alta Owen; wife, Fern E. (Tuttle) Owen, 3 brothers; Raymond, Clyde and Floyd (Ted) Owen, 10 sisters; Erma Shartle, Mamie Neider, Ruth Meacom, Della Mae Vogan, Betty Greenfield, Lorina Mae Owen, Laura Bennett, Doris Reagle, Muriel Talley and Neta Coyle.
Survivors include: son, Jim (Elaine) Owen of Blue Ridge, granddaughters; Dawn (Brett) Dunlap of Fl., Debbie (Bill) Foster of Columbus, OH., grandson, Jim E. Owen, great-grandsons; Ron Dunlap, Ryan Foster, Jordan Foster, Gabe Foster, special niece and nephew; Sandy Carlson and Junior Reigle of PA., and a host of other beloved neices and nephews.
Services will be held Thursday, September 25, 2008 at 3:00PM from the Henry-Cochran Funeral Home Chapel.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 2-3 PM, Thursday, September 25, 2008
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that contributions be made to Alzheimer's Association Memory Walk, N. GA. Chapter, 855 Abutment Road, Ste. 6, Dalton, GA., 30721, In Memory of Evan Owen.
The Henry-Cochran Funeral Home of Blue Ridge, Georgia and Osborne-Williams Funeral Home of Greenville, PA. are in charge of arrangements.
