Eva Davis Breedlove, well known and loved mother, wife, chair-caning teacher, and community member, passed away on August 8, 2023. She was born on February 23, 1931, in Columbus, GA, to Horace Greeley Davis and Eva Roberts Davis.
Eva was a remarkable woman who dedicated much of her life to her children, grandchildren, and great-grand-children.
In addition to her role as a mother, Eva enjoyed spending time outdoors, hiking, and even camping, with friends and family. She also enjoyed quilting and chair-caning. Examples of her quilts and restored caned chairs and stools can be found in many of her family and friends’ homes. She also made several quilts to raise funds for one of her favorite causes, the CROP Walk, a program dedicated to ending hunger.
Among Eva's proudest accomplishments was that she and her husband, Bill Breedlove, started the now-thriving OASIS Program at the First United Methodist Church here in Blairsville. This is a popular program for older adults; it offers classes in various arts, crafts, skills, and interests. She and Bill then taught chair-caning in the OASIS program for many years.
Eva is survived by her children, Ginger Ramsay, Jim Breedlove (Kathy), Bob Breedlove (Lycia), David Breedlove (Shelly), and Stephen Breedlove (Allie); her grandchildren, Claire Ramsay Wan, Rachel Ramsay, Wendy Goddard, Justin Breedlove, Sarah Breedlove, Eric Breedlove, Melissa Adams, Bill Breedlove, Anna Breedlove Allen, Logan Butts, Alex Breedlove, Leia Breedlove, Kiara Ward, Kalyana Ward, Cherish Evans, Rachel Breedlove, Jake Breedlove, Burkley Breedlove, Adrian Breedlove, Terry Breedlove, Andrew Breedlove, Lindsay Breedlove, and multiple great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her husband, William Breedlove, her parents, and all of her siblings.
To honor Eva's memory, visitation will be held on August 11, 2023, from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm at Cochran Funeral Home & Crematory of Blairsville, located at 41 Hunt-Martin St, Blairsville, GA, 30512.
