Cochran Funeral Home of Blairsville announces funeral services for Mr. Eugene Cook, age 83, of Blairsville, who passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 25, 2016, with his family gathered by his bedside.
Eugene was a Korean War veteran, Young Harris College graduate, and was a life-long farmer. He was a deacon and longtime member of Old Liberty Baptist Church. Eugene enjoyed gardening, farming, and spending time with his family and friends. He knew no stranger and loved to talk and reminisce about growing up in the mountains.
Survivors include his loving wife of 63 years, Ruby Nell; Brother, James Cook, and Sister Vivian Cook. Also surviving are children Barney and Retha Cook, Darrell and Judy Cook, Gerald and Patty Cook, and Regenia and Michael Williams. He also left behind ten loving grandchildren, fifteen great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren.
Funeral services have been scheduled for Wednesday, June 29, 2016, at 2:00 p.m., to be held in Old Liberty Baptist Church, with Rev. Harley Hunter and Rev. Doug Merck officiating. The body will lie instate at the church starting at 1:00 p.m. Special music will be presented by Old Liberty Baptist Church Choir. The following gentlemen have been selected to serve as pallbearers: Tracy Henderson, Jacob Hood, Avery Cook, Michael Williams, Kent Cook, and Jonathan Carpenter. Selected to serve as honorary pallbearers are Brian Williams and Jase Hood. Burial will be in Old Liberty Baptist Church Cemetery. Military honors will be presented by North Georgia Honor Guard and U.S. Air Force Honor Guard. Visitation at the funeral home will be held on Tuesday evening, June 28, 2016, from 7 until 9 p.m.
